Medical Adviser to this Department as bein; nhysically

fit for service he proposes to select you for snpaint-

ment as a lures in the Hongkong Kedical Denartment

with salary at the rate of £110 a year rising after

three years' service to £130 per annum. For purnosOS

of payments in the Colony salaries fixed in sterling

are converted into dollars as to 80% at the rate of

lu/9d. and as to 20% at a rate fixed by the Government

and based on the avera, exchange value of the dollar

during the month ending on the 16th day of the month

for which salary is to be paid.

2. It is to be understood that your engagement

is for not more than three years from the date of your arrival in the Colony; and that, if it is established to the satisfaction of the Governor that you are not qualified for efficient service there, he will, sub- ject to the confirmation of the Secretary of State, have full power to cancel your appointment at any time within the said three years without giving you
